Group Education

Individual Development Account (IDA) Program at Lawrence CommunityWorks
Since 2013, MCCI has been collaborating with Lawrence CommunityWorks’ IDA Program to offer comprehensive Business and Personal Finance education for new and existing businesses. Participants attend monthly financial literacy workshops, where they study budgeting, credit repair, goal-setting, financial planning, as well as receive the essentials of business education which includes, business planning, accounting, marketing, and financial statements. In addition, participants are required to save $1,200 to invest in their business, and receive a matching contribution of $4,800. Participants who complete the program are welcome to apply for a business loan with MCCI.

Healthy Bodega Initiative at Groundwork Lawrence
MCCI has been working with the Mayor’s Health Initiative and Groundwork Lawrence on a Healthy Bodega initiative that support small neighborhood grocery stores in providing more healthy food options. MCCI provides technical assistance to the bodega owners as well as access to capital when applicable.
